4 RULES OF FIREARMS SAFETY

TREAT ALL FIREARMS AS IF THEY ARE LOADED. CLEARANCE CHECK EACH TIME YOU PICK IT UP.

ALWAYS POINT THE MUZZLE IN A SAFE DIRECTION, OR DIRECTION OF LEAST CONSEQUENCE.

Using & Storing Firearms Rules

Be sure your firearm is safe to operate.

Know how to operate your firearm safely.

Use the correct ammunition for your firearm.

Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
5
Store guns so that they are not accessible to unauthorized persons or children.

Wear ear and eye protection when Firing Line is Hot.

Be aware that certain types of firearms and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.
General Range Safety Rules

Know and obey the common range rules and commands.

Always know where others are.

Shoot only at authorized targets.
4
Immediately stop shooting upon hearing the "CEASE-FIRE" command.

Unload, open the action, ground, or bench all firearms during a cease-fire or when someone moves Downrange to the target area.

When two or more shooters are present, shooters shall consult each other before moving Downrange from the Firing Line.
7
Do not handle a firearm or stand at the Firing Line while others are Downrange.
8
Designate a Range Safety Officer when none is present or assigned.
